There are many FTP programs out there. However, we
recommend using WS_FTP to
administer your uploads. You will also need to unzip the program prior to using it. You
can use WINZIP software to unzip
the files.
Once you are connected to the Internet:
-
Open FTP
-
Enter the IP address in the "host name address" box.
This address will be the location of your files.
-
Enter your Username
-
Enter your Password
-
In the left window, select the files from your disk or hard drive
that you are going to upload. Make sure one of those files is your "default.htm"
or "index.htm" file. (Note: this file will need to go directly in the root
directory).
-
Choose the button on your FTP program that connects or
"sends" your files. You should get a confirmation of transfer, and if
successful, you can check by typing your domain name or IP address into your
browser.

Using the extensions or "Web Bots" with your web site
is fully supported by
Caribe-Web
. If you are using the web bots, make sure you use the publish
command to upload to the server. If you try to FTP those files that use the web bots, the
files may become corrupted and the effectiveness of those web bots will be hindered. If
you are using FrontPage to create a site without the bots, you can still use the publish
command.
-
Start FrontPage Explorer
-
Open web
-
At web address type, type in your IP address
or domain name we issued you
-
Click list webs, then double click on root web
-
You will then be prompted for username and password; enter them
-
You will then see an outline of your site with the files you
transferred.
